In the weirdest combination of old and new tech, Samsung has unveiled the SM-W2014. It’s an old school flip phone powered by Android. It features two 3.7-inch WVGA Super AMOLED displays, something we saw three years ago, paired with the fastest processor on the market, the 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800. It has 2GB of RAM, a 13MP camera, 32GB of storage, Android 4.3 out of the box, and strangely enough, a wimpy 1,900 mAh battery. There is nothing about this phone that isn’t confusing.
The device will be exclusive to China Telecom, where it will cost CN¥10,000, or a little over $1,600. Yes, the phone costs an incredible amount of money for a mix of high end and low end specs. We don’t quite get it either.
It’s very doubtful that the phone will ever leave South Korea and China, so you won’t be able to buy one for yourself without importing. If you’re into that kind of stuff. But we can only imagine how fast this thing will be with a Snapdragon 800 pushing a small WVGA resolution. We can’t say we love it, but it sure is interesting.
