Dead Trigger 2 Gets A Massive Update With Gameplay Balancing And Bug Fixes

The zombie slaying is about to get a bit better in the online world of Dead Trigger 2. A big update has hit the Play Store with a number of important tweaks. Better start mashing that update button.

The update is mostly about changing the game balance in the player's favor. Here's the full changelog from Mad Finger Games:

Gameplay Balancing

• Kamikadze - Decrease Damage done by explosion


• Infectator - Lowered aiming capability


• Berserker - Decrease HP


• ScientFist - Balanced radioactivity damage


• Zombies difficulty was rebalanced


• Several missions were rebalanced


• Inverted y-axis added

BugFixing

• Samsung S III and S IV crashes fixed


• Broken fonts fixed


• Produced chain-saw is visible in Inventory


• Inactive boosters is not visible anymore


• Pain-Killer upgrade works correctly

In our review, the difficulty of the special zombies was one of the major sticking points mentioned.

At some point in your childhood, one of your parents may have warned you against making faces - "knock it off," they said, "or your face will freeze like that." That sound advice might not actually be true, but it seems to have a pertinent application for the latest versions of the Hangouts app on Android. Reddit user Recon2012 found an app-killing bug within Hangouts relating to the new emoji functionality in the Android keyboard.

Since the ye olde days of wired-syncing on Blackberry, I've loved calendar apps. It's the app I use most on my phone, and so I'm always curious to try out new ones. SolCalendar looks especially lovely, so I gave it a trial run.

Setup

Setup was a breeze. It has on-screen instructions and immediately synced with my Google calendar without me having to log in or anything. Interestingly enough, it found a calendar to sync that I don't actually have (Nike Calendar?), but whatever.

Blizzard's Hearthstone: Heroes Of Warcraft Trading Card Game Is Coming To Android In 2014

Blizzard is a game developer and publisher - maybe you've heard of them. They're responsible for little series like Diablo, Starcraft, and World Of Warcraft, among others. The company's latest effort is an online, multiplayer trading card game called Hearthstone, currently in an invite-only beta on PC. Polygon reports that at the annual BlizzCon in Anaheim, California, the company announced that Hearthstone will be released on Android in 2014.

Hearthstone is loosely set in Blizzard's Warcraft franchise, hence the subtitle "Heroes of Warcraft." Like other collectible card games, it's being built from the ground up on the free-to-play model, though reports from early beta players indicate that it's still easy enough to get into the main game without spending money.

You might just be seeing a new version of Google Maps in your Play Store downloads today - Google has updated the app from version 7.3 to 7.4. There's not a whole lot of new stuff going on inside, certainly not compared to the cavalcade of UI changes that happened earlier this year. A few tuned gestures, a few refreshed UI elements, and that's about it. APK downloads below.

If you're a regular Maps user, you'll notice that the one-finger zoom gestures have been reversed.

An updated version of Google Keyboard has made its way into the Play Store, taking most of the previously Nexus 5-exclusive features and expanding them out to other devices. We've covered the improvements in-depth before (and provided an APK), but in short, the swiping trail is now white, emoji are built-in, and users can swipe multiple words without having to lift up their finger. Unfortunately, some features still require KitKat, such as full-color emoji.

The SwiftKey team just rolled out a massive update to their popular Android keyboard, introducing various layouts suitable for a wide range of screen sizes. Now they're moving on to tackle other long-awaited, user-requested features. Two responses on the app's idea suggestion page show that the developers are currently working on adding support for emojis and the ability to enable a dedicated number row.

Neither of these features are particularly groundbreaking in the grand scheme of things, but that is precisely what makes the demand for them so strong.

Teknision, Maker Of Chameleon Launcher Has Been Acquired By A Company You've Probably Never Heard Of

The Chameleon Launcher turned some heads when it more than doubled its goal on Kickstarter last year. There's a new Google Play Services app in town, and it includes all kinds of goodies for developers. But there's a nasty surprise waiting inside Google Play Services 4.0, at least for users on some devices: it may have disabled the Android Device Manager's permission to act as a Device Administrator. This is what allows users to access the new remote locate, unlock, and device wipe features from the web... which some of them might not realize they can no longer do.
