LG G Flex isn’t just curved, it really is flexible

The LG G Flex, along with the Samsung Galaxy Round, are the first line of smartphones with true flexible displays. However, the phones themselves are rigid, with the flexible display only being demonstrated by curving it. The Galaxy Nexus had a curved piece of glass, but a straight display. These two phones have real curved displays. However, they’re not flexible, making flexible displays a bit of a gimmick in this implementation.

However, we underestimated LG’s offering a little bit. A video of someone (ab)using an LG G Flex smartphone was posted, where they are pushing down on it while it’s lying with the curve up. The entire phone actually flexes flat, then pops right up again like nothing happened. They turn it over and do the same thing to the edges. It looks like quite a resilient phone, not that we would recommend bending the phone often.

The device is powered by a Snapdragon 800 processor paired with 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a 13MP camera, and a 3,500 mAh battery. It also features a 6-inch display with a somewhat low 720p resolution. The added flexibility isn’t much of a feature, but it would save the phone if you happened to sit on it. Does this affect your opinion of the G Flex, or is it just a gimmick to you? Leave a comment!
